A Bench Built for Power Modules
Applying a power module correctly is as important as choosing the right part, and because the performance depends on the input filter, the layout and the thermal path, the integration decides how efficient and how reliable the design becomes. To support customers more effectively, BeiLuo has opened an FAE verification bench dedicated to Mornsun isolated DC-DC converters and AC-DC power modules. The bench lets our engineers measure efficiency, ripple, temperature and conducted emissions before a customer commits to a design, turning advice into evidence.
The bench complements the stock program announced in July. Where the stocking program answers the question of whether a part is available, the new bench answers the question of whether the part will perform in a specific application. Together they let BeiLuo support a design from selection through validation, rather than only at the point of sale.
What We Measure
The bench is equipped with precision power meters, programmable electronic loads, a thermal chamber, high-bandwidth oscilloscopes and an LISN for conducted emissions. Engineers characterize the efficiency across the load range, measure the output ripple and the transient response, and record the case or baseplate temperature at worst-case load and ambient. For a DC-DC module they verify the input range and the reflection; for an AC-DC module they verify the universal input, the power factor and the hold-up time.
Efficiency and Ripple
Efficiency is measured with power meters on both sides of the module, so the loss and the resulting heat are known rather than assumed. Ripple is measured with a short ground connection to avoid picking up radiated noise, and the transient response is captured at a load step. These measurements show whether a module performs as the datasheet promises in the real circuit, and whether a layout change is needed.
Conducted Emissions
An LISN lets the bench measure conducted emissions from the input of the module with the real load attached. Because the EMC result depends as much on the input filter and the layout as on the module itself, the measurement guides the filter selection and confirms whether the design meets the target limit before the customer builds a board. This early check avoids an expensive late-stage compliance surprise.
From Selection to Validation
When a customer asks which module suits their design, our FAE team can now validate the recommendation on the bench. We confirm the efficiency and the ripple, measure the temperature and project the margin against the derating curve, and confirm the conducted emissions with a recommended filter. The result is a design path backed by measured data, which reduces the risk of late-stage surprises and shortens the path to a reliable design.
Thermal Projection
Because the thermal path, not the module, usually sets the limit in a dense design, the case or baseplate temperature is a key measurement. The bench measures it at worst-case load and ambient and lets us compare the result with the datasheet derating, so we can advise on a heatsink, an airflow change or a lower-loss model before the design is released.
Supporting a Design End to End
The bench is a support tool, not a test house, and it is strongest when used early. A typical engagement starts with a selection question, moves to a bench check of the chosen module with the customer's load profile, and ends with a validated recommendation for the module, the input filter and the thermal path. Because BeiLuo holds the modules in regional stock, the validated part can then move quickly to a sample and a production order.
How to Use the Bench
Customers can request a bench evaluation by sending their input range, output, load profile, environment and any EMC target to the BeiLuo team. Our engineers will set up the test, measure the key parameters and share the results with a design recommendation. The bench is one more reason to treat BeiLuo as a technical partner for Mornsun power modules rather than a simple parts supplier.
Because the bench and the stock program work together, a customer can validate a module on the bench and then hold production stock within the same week, which shortens the distance between a design decision and a shipping product. The bench also gives our FAE engineers a shared reference, so advice is consistent across offices and across projects, and a design that passes in one region behaves the same in another.
